My year has ended, as well as my season. The year sucked and the season looked abysmal. But thanks to the Prez and the lame duck Congress, the last week made my season and the year a success overall. I'll have a job next year.
The port has been poured, the nougat bars have been cut, the house smells terrific with the aroma of black beans , seasoned pork chops and home baked cookies.
My wife and son are happy and in a festive mood.
The gifts have been bought, only the wrapping to be done.
Here's a toast to you all and to myself because I am truly a fortunate man.
So drink up, be merry and may Santa light up your life, tonight, tomorrow and always

9/11 First Responder Bill- The Real Deal Behind the Hoopla
This bill has been lambasted from Jon Stewart to every single Democrat in Congress by the supposed Republican refusal to endorse. But it is time to clear the air with the political wrangling this bill has created. While there is some truth that this bill was delayed by Republicans in lieu of passing the tax cuts, never have the Republicans stated that this bill would never be introduced.
First off, the very means how this bill was originally going to be payed for was impossible. The initial bill stated that a tax loophole would be closed that permitted foreign companies that have subsidiaries here to be taxed. Sounds great right? Unfortunately, in reality that would most likely mean that those corporations would close those subsidiaries here, meaning that jobs would be loss and if they were to leave, what taxes would one collect? So, in essence, the bill would never be funded.
Now that an amended bill has been proposed, with a different way to fund it, I fully anticipate this bill to go through, as it should.
Let me be clear, these heroes deserve whatever is necessary to make their life easier, this bill is a great idea. But let's make sure that there is actual money to pay for their needs and not just tokens of our appreciation, as that was all the original bill was ever going to accomplish.
I'll give this to the Dems, well played.

It's Raining Teddy Bears. Awesome Hockey Charity Promotion
While tossing hats onto the ice when a player scores three goals might be hockey's most famous tossing tradition, it simply doesn't compare to the Technicolor grandeur of 23,096 teddy bears and other stuffed animals blanketing the rink as they did at the Calgary Hitmen game on Sunday
For 16 years the Hitmen, who were co-owned by and named after former WWF champion Bret Hart, have held a Teddy Bear Toss to benefit over 50 charities in Alberta that work with children. On Monday, after the 23,000-strong toss, the players hand-delivered teddy bears to the Alberta Children's Hospital

Think We Can Do One of These Calenders?
Female Czech MP's Pose For Calender
Michelle Bachman (R-MN), considered a babe by some, maybe
Shelley Berkley (D-NV), has got "schoolteacher/librarian" fantasy vibe potential
But then decided that as soon as I would see this picture the calender would get shredded to pieces and it would be a horrible idea

Video of Stocholm's Terrorist Bomb
My heart goes out to the people of Sweden. Terrorism is rampant across the world and even safe and peaceful nations like Sweden are not immune to it. These terrorists are like kamikaze pilots on steroids.

Dead or Alive by Tom Clancy & Grant Blackwood
The Clancy magic is back (even if requires another writer to get him there). I think I can tell which sections of the book were written by whom, but it does work. Normally I'm not a fan of co-written/shadow writers books but this one works quite well.
It helps if you read the previous debacle (at your own risk), The Teeth of the Tiger, but not necessary.

Healtcare: Unconstitutional!!
A Federal district judge in Virginia has declared a keystone provision in healthcare as "unconstitutional". Can't wait to see where this goes from here. It is about time this bloated "lowest common denominator" idea towards medicine gets scrutinized

Welcome!
Created this site as a place where I can discuss my opinion of the news, the books I'm reading, and just general musings throughout the day. I hope this place becomes a free-flowing place for conversations, opinions, and some plain old fun.
In due time I'll be adding news clippings, funny or interesting images, videos that make me laugh. Consider it the "Not Necessarily the News" blogsite
Hope to see you soon!
